Great Australian Bites in Aurukun will bring together the local community to celebrate Australia Day with a vibrant showcase of food, activities and culture for everyone to enjoy.
The event will be held at Wo'uw Ko'alam Community Centre (524 McKenzie Drive, Aurukun) from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 31 January 2026.
Bush Tukka Woman, Samantha Martin, descendant of the Kija and Jaru from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, will delight guests with a cooking presentation and will be preparing the main food showcase of the day.
This family-friendly event will also feature indigenous artist Madi Coville Walker, a Yorta Yorta Winyarr singer-songwriter, and Uncle Barry Watson of the Wergaia people of Western Australia will be attending as an Australia Day Ambassador to present the Australia Day Citizenship Awards.
Great Australian Bites Aurukun will be a fun, inclusive and memorable day for the entire community.
