Great Australian Bites Aurukun brought together the local community to celebrate Australia Day with a vibrant showcase of food, music and culture for everyone to enjoy.

The free event was held at Wo'uw Ko'alam Community Centre on Saturday 31 January 2026.

Tess Fapani, an inspiring Australian singer-songwriter from Cape York in Far North Queensland, took centre stage to perform live at the event with attendees enjoying her warm and earthy storytelling and soulful vocal presence.

Great Australian Bites Aurukun was an inclusive family-friendly event with regional food delights from local vendors and fun children's activities. Uncle Barry Watson of the Wergaia people of Western Australia also attended as an Australia Day Ambassador to present the Australia Day Citizenship Awards.
