Host your own event

We celebrated Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee at an official morning tea in Brisbane on 5 June 2022. To complement this, in the month of June, we are encouraging all Queenslanders to host their own event in honour of The Queen’s 70 years of service to the Commonwealth.

Events can range from a royal lunch or high tea, a trivia night, a Jubilee cake baking competition, a gala ball or anything in between. All ideas are welcome.

To take part, register your event and download the resources provided which include templates for bunting, cake toppers and flags, a trivia game, a wordfind and colouring in sheets.

Anyone can run an event so spread the word in your local community, organisation, and with your friends and family. We also encourage you to share your event pictures on social media using #PlatinumJubilee.

Jubilee lighting

To acknowledge the significant achievement of Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee, key monuments and buildings were illuminated in capital cities across the country on 6 February 2022, 70 years from the date of Her Majesty’s accession to the throne.

Further illuminations of iconic buildings and monuments took place on 2 June and 4–5 June 2022 with communities right around the state encouraged to enjoy the spectacle of Queensland’s historic and culturally significant buildings awash in purple—a colour synonymous with royalty.

Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee

Across Australia trees will be planted in honour of the legacy of The Queen and her 70 years of service to Australia and the Commonwealth.

Eligible groups and organisations are invited to participate in the Planting Trees for The Queens Jubilee Program—an initiative of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia.

The program will provide up to $15.1 million of grant funding in 2022 to eligible groups and organisations for community-based tree planting events.

The program complements other initiatives taking place across the Commonwealth to mark The Queen’s Jubilee, such as a tree planting initiative in the United Kingdom which is inviting people to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
